National News Touts Hawaii’s Single-Use Bag Bill While Hawaii Lawmakers Kill It
While Hawaii was making national news about lawmakers efforts to charge consumers for single-use bags at the check-out counter, House members were killing the measure.

The Huffington Post ran a story the morning of the Friday vote, saying: “If lawmakers pass the House Bill 2260 this session, Hawaii would become the first state to enact this kind of pro-environment legislation.”
Three days later, Smart Planet picked-up the story, apparently unaware of Friday’s events.

Environmental groups littered the Capitol lawn earlier this month to raise awareness about the toll of plastic bags on the environment.
